1940 Packard 120 - $37,500 - Simi Valley, CA - California garaged within same family since mid 1970’s this ‘RARE Classic’ runs and drives as beautifully as it looks with approximately 8500 miles allowing open road highway speeds without the strain on the rebuilt Packard engine. Starts well and idles to an amazing low RPM as only a fine Packard could, this hard to find eight-cylinder ‘junior’, model 1801 is powered with a 282 cubic-inch flathead, three-speed manual transmission with column shifter and newer rebuilt independent front suspension on a semi-floating rear axle. The cooling system has been serviced along with a completely rebuilt braking system allowing the car to stop smooth and safe on correct width wide white wall radial tires.
All light lenses and bezels are in good working order along with signal lights, duel fog lights, head lighting and vintage control switch powered by twin 6-volt batteries This recently painted ’rust-free’ beauty has been finished in its original Packard Laguna Maroon color, a ‘rare’ find in the 120 series and stands out in its excellent chrome stainless trim.
The interior has also been restored with incredible care and faithful attention to detail including a finely restored interior hand painted wood grain dash that will impress the most discriminating collector. Equipped with functional factory overdrive, the original Motorola radio and aux speaker as well as original clock haven’t aged in years. Overall the reupholstered heavy English broadcloth in original grey color remains in fairly good physical condition.
